It is planned to have a demonstrator section of the new signal project in operation during the 2008 running season.

The project to replace the workshop roof  has been delayed due to other priorities. The plan is to improve the overall workshop area by replacing the floor and walls then finally erecting a new roof.

To improve the ground level track several track sections  have been replaced already and materials are on hand to continue with further sections.

The Club electric loco is now operational and ensures we always have a loco available for passenger hauling. There is ‘adequate’ power for the heaviest loads and the batteries can run for many hours before needing recharging.

The carriage construction programme has ensured that we have plenty of rolling stock to cover even the busiest of running days.

Track improvements have included an extra set of points on the ‘main line’ to give an exit for locos with problems. The exit from the steaming bays has been improved with a new ramp direct to the ground level track and the traverser to the raised track simplified.

Site improvements - after replacing part of the fence around the track next to the picnic area due to storm damage, work is now underway to replace the remaining fence to the same standard.

Several new trees have been planted to further improve the visual presentation of the site.

New signal project - the S&T team continue to make  progress on the design of the new signal project. Work is underway to provide pneumatic actuation to the most used points around the track and a pilot scheme of the new signals project is being implemented to iron out any operational issues.

The 2008 track programme gets underway on January 1st with the customary ‘New Year’s Day Steam-up’.

Inclement weather is no deterrent for Club members keen to either escape the Christmas period festivities or (more likely) check out their loco before making the January pilgrimage to Sinsheim.
